ACEC California Supports Comprehensive Transportation Package

IMG_1930On Thursday, May 19th, the American Council of Engineering Companies, California joined a broad coalition of labor, business interests, and local government in a massive rally outside the California State Capitol to urge the Legislature to move forward with a comprehensive transportation funding package. The rally was organized by the Fix Our Roads Coalition and included the release of a proposal, Roadmap to Consensus, that incorporates elements from the Republican reform proposals, the Governor Brown’s Budget Plan, and components from legislation proposed by Senator Beall and Assembly Member Frazier.

ACEC California will continue to make it clear to the Legislature that it supports a compromise solution that includes new investment revenues, as well as sensible reforms to address the state’s aging roads, bridges, highways and local transit systems.

IMG_1931“Gas prices continue to fall, which further reduces our transportation system funding. Now more than ever, it’s critical that we find a better and more sustainable way to address our deteriorating roads, bridges and highways,” said ACEC California Executive Director Brad Diede. “ACEC California’s members are proud to stand with a broad and diverse coalition that has identified a sensible consensus solution that combines new revenues with strong accountability measures. Our economy depends heavily on a strong transportation infrastructure, and we encourage the Legislature and Governor to work together to move forward with a transportation package that includes significant, but responsible investment and innovative reforms to our transportation system.”
